The burden of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is substantial and is associated with poor health outcomes including\r\nincrease hospitalizations and premature deaths, as well as considerable health care cost. In recognition of this\r\nmounting public health problem, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and their collaborators\r\ncreated a national CKD surveillance system.
